I dived into crocodile’s jaws

A NEWCASTLE man has revealed how he cheated death after inadvertently diving on a crocodile during a drunken sunset swim.

Matt Martin was camping at Cow Bay, north of the Daintree River in far north Queensland, when he dived through a shallow wave and into the jaws of the lurking croc.

“I thought I was dead,” the 35-year-old construction worker said.

“The water was only just above my waist when I went to dive into the waves. It was sort of like when you hit rocks but the rocks had give and movement in them.

“The next moment, I’m standing up and something in my head was screaming ‘it’s a croc’ and I just started to backpedal.”
