Thief caught sleeping after cookie snack

MALAYSIAN police have arrested a thief who fell asleep after snacking on cookies in the home of his victim and was discovered curled up in bed clutching a stolen purse, a newspaper has reported.

V. Sathya, an insurance manager in the northern Malaysian state of Terengganu, said his nine-year old son was startled to find the intruder sleeping in his bed, with a blanket pulled over his head, after the family returned from a shopping trip.

“He shouted and ran out of his room,” Sathya told the Star newspaper.

“Even then the burglar did not wake up and carried on sleeping while holding on to one of my wife’s purses.”

The thief also ate up the cookies the family had prepared for Chinese New Year celebrations next weekend.

“My wife had prepared various delicacies over the past few days but the rogue ate everything,” said Sathya, who is married to an ethnic Chinese.

A drink driver banned from the road for three years was caught drunk
behind the wheel again – just 15 minutes after his 1,095 day ban ended.

Peter Savage was caught by traffic officers as he drove back home after a night out celebrating the end of his ban with friends, during which he had drunk four pints of lager.

The
court heard that after being pulled to the side of the road the
28-year-old scrapyard worker gave a false name and address as he tried
to escape out of another ban.

Camera on stolen laptop helps owner catch thieves

A tech-savvy White Plains woman whose apartment was robbed solved the crime herself after she was able to log on to her stolen laptop, photograph one of the suspects with it and get photos of another, police said.

At that point, police said, the victim signed onto another computer and used the “Back to My Mac” program to determine that her stolen MacIntosh laptop indeed was signed onto the Web and that someone was using it to shop online. She then activated the stolen computer’s camera, allowing her to “see” what was in front of the laptop.

Naked stranger on toilet asks to ‘finish business’ before arrest

Lisa Bess could not figure out why the front door to her home on West Silver Springs Boulevard was locked and the key was missing on Tuesday afternoon. She couldn’t figure out why her bathroom door was locked and water was running. She called the police.

When Ocala police officers kicked open the door to her bathroom at about 5 p.m., she had her answer: A man had found the extra key outside, let himself in, picked out a new outfit of her clothes to wear and took a long hot shower. They found him sitting naked on the bathroom toilet.

“There was still a stench of my body lotion; actually, water was still draining from the bathtub,” Bess said. “And he was refusing to get off the toilet until he finished doing his business.”

Capsule burst gives away drug smuggler

SAN JOSE: An American in Costa Rica was caught smuggling nearly a pound of cocaine in his stomach after he went into convulsions on a plane bound for Miami, police said on Friday.

The 22-year-old man swallowed dozens of capsules stuffed with the drug before boarding a plane on Thursday in the Costa Rican capital, San Jose. Police said he started to vomit and convulse before the plane took off and was rushed to a hospital where he was still recovering on Friday.

Ummmm … if you look up “awkward” in a dictionary, this should be listed:

A Polish man got the shock of his life when he visited a brothel and spotted his wife among the establishment’s employees. Polish tabloid Super Express said the woman had been making some extra money on the side while telling her husband she worked at a store in a nearby town.

“I was dumfounded. I thought I was dreaming,” the husband told the newspaper Wednesday.

Needless to say, the couple, married for 14 years, are now divorcing.

Bank manager gives woman loans for sex

                          

A German bank manager gave loans to a woman for sex and then embezzled thousands of euros to buy the silence of her relatives, authorities said on Thursday.  When the man realized he could not offer the jobless woman a loan because of her poor credit history, he offered to lend her the money personally in return for sexual favors, said a spokesman for a court in the southern town of Tuebingen.  The 31-year-old then stole the money from the bank. The pair continued their arrangement for the next three years.

In total, the man diverted some 520,000 euros ($760,000) from clients’ accounts, of which he gave about 70,000 euros to the woman, and kept 40,000 euros for himself.  The biggest chunk of the cash went to her relatives who were blackmailing the bank manager, a married man with children. The manager had himself told her cousin about the sex deal.  “As incredible as it sounds, that’s what he told us,” the Tuebingen court spokesman said. “The cousin was suspicious and she called him to ask how the woman had got a loan.”

The court said bank officials uncovered the ruse after probing irregularities linked to the man’s handling of other loans. The court gave the man, who confessed, a jail sentence of three years and nine months.

Brothers accused of theft, burglary to cover legal costs

MONTVILLE, Conn. – Two brothers who tried unsuccessfully to dump a stolen truck because they could not remove its tires attempted to cover their legal expenses in that case by stealing items from a local elementary school, according to authorities.

Christopher Lamotte, 18, and Steven Lamotte Jr., 20, face several larceny and burglary charges from the two incidents, police said this week.

Authorities in this southeastern Connecticut town say they had little difficulty finding the suspects.

In the first case, the truck’s owner told police that Christopher Lamotte was the only other person who knew about the vehicle’s hidden key, according to court records. And in the second, the brothers allegedly forgot a knapsack with one of their names inside at the crime scene, authorities said.

Teacher in teen sex case arrested again

TAMPA, Fla. –

A former teacher serving house arrest for having sex with a 14-year-old student was arrested on charges of violating her probation, state records show.

According to a Department of Corrections report, Debra Lafave discussed her personal life and other subjects with a teenage waitress at a restaurant where both worked. One of the terms of her probation was that she was not allowed to have unsupervised contact with minors without permission.

Tanja Enkel, 31, is alleged to have poured sleeping tablets into her husband Peter’s milkshake, before injecting him with a narcotic she acquired from one of her lovers.
