Double glazing salesman ‘punched customer for getting quote from a rival firm’

A double glazing salesman launched a violent assault on a customer moments after discovering they had spoken to a rival company, a court was told yesterday.

Carl Birkenshaw, 42, allegedly threw a series of punches at George Dixon after accusing him and his wife of wasting his time during a meeting at the couple’s home.

He erupted with rage when Mr Dixon informed him that they had already sought a quote from another firm for new windows to be fitted into their luxury conservatory.

Bungling counterfeit gang tried to fake £500,000 note

A gang of counterfeiters tried to con the Bank of England out of £28bn by claiming to have a collection of £1,000 and £500,000 notes, a court heard yesterday.

However, the ‘audacious’ plot was foiled by the fact that the £1,000 notes had not been legal tender for more than 60 years and the £500,000 version never existed.

Robbery suspect was stuck in ventilation shaft for 10 hours

A 25 year old man tried to break into a CVS pharmacy last night … and he thought he had it all planned out. He had a rope and was going to drop himself in through the store’s ventilation shaft.

Jeffery Mumani climbed onto the roof of the CVS store and removed the vent, allowing access into the store. He tied the rope around himself, when the plan was suddenly ruined.

“Either the rope broke, or came loose from what is what tied to , and ended up dropping him 9 to 10 feet straight down,” says Marion County Sheriff’s Captain James Pogue.

Straight down into the ceiling of the ladies’ room.

I dived into crocodile’s jaws

A NEWCASTLE man has revealed how he cheated death after inadvertently diving on a crocodile during a drunken sunset swim.

Matt Martin was camping at Cow Bay, north of the Daintree River in far north Queensland, when he dived through a shallow wave and into the jaws of the lurking croc.

“I thought I was dead,” the 35-year-old construction worker said.

“The water was only just above my waist when I went to dive into the waves. It was sort of like when you hit rocks but the rocks had give and movement in them.

“The next moment, I’m standing up and something in my head was screaming ‘it’s a croc’ and I just started to backpedal.”
